Can Wealthfront transfer all investments from my other firm?
When you transfer investments to Wealthfront from another firm, Wealthfront automatically and tax-efficiently sells and reinvests the proceeds from your transferred investments in your Wealthfront diversified portfolio. However, some investments require significant manual intervention to sell, so our automated service can’t sell them on your behalf. For these investments, we require that you sell them at your other firm before transferring the proceeds to Wealthfront.
We review the investments in your external account when you start the transfer process. We notify you and give you guidance on the next steps if we identify an investment that needs to be sold prior to transfer. You can review the general list of non-transferable investments here.
