How long do I have to wait to transfer an investment account to Wealthfront after my most recent transaction in that account?

It depends on the transaction type and the other firm’s policy:

After you make a...

You must wait at least...

And keep in mind...

Deposit

Five (5) business days after the deposit

Most firms require this much time for the funds to “clear.”

If you have an automatic repeating deposit into your external account, you may need to pause it.

Withdrawal

One (1) business day after the withdrawal

Trade (buy or sell)

Three (3) business days after the trade date

This is the typical amount of time required for trades to “settle.”

If you have an advisor who trades in your external account, you should direct your advisor not to trade until the transfer is complete.

In addition, ensure that your external account does not have any transfer restrictions.
