How often can I buy or sell investments in my Stock Investing Account?
You can make a request to buy stocks as often as you like.
Sale requests are a little different because of how our systems work to execute a simplified buy-and-hold strategy. You can only have one pending sale for each stock in a portfolio at a time. For example, if you start a sale of ABC from one portfolio, you won’t be able to start another sale of ABC from the same portfolio until the first settles.
Our Stock Investing Accounts don’t support pattern day trading. Day trading rules are made by FINRA. If any activity (like starting a sale) would be flagged for pattern day trading, you won’t be able to do it until enough time has passed to avoid having your account locked.
If you’re prevented from selling out of your whole portfolio because of day trading rules, you might still be able to sell out of a single position. To learn more, read How do I sell stocks that I hold in my Stock Investing Account?
