Why is my institution link down? What should I do?

Links to your institution can fail for a variety of reasons:

  1. Your bank or brokerage changed their website or the way data is accessed. Examples of this could include updates to the institution’s login procedure, new security requirements like multi-factor authentication, or periodic re-authentication.
  2. Your login credentials may need to be updated or re-authenticated to keep the connection active.
  3. Some institutions periodically restrict access for third-party data providers. In these situations, we work with our data provider and the institution to restore connectivity as soon as possible.
  4. Institutions merging with each other or rebranding.
  5. Short-term server maintenance or temporary outages at the institution.

When a link fails, we’ll let you know that it’s temporarily down. In some cases, you won’t need to do anything, we’ll automatically retry the connection and work with the institution to restore it.

If action is required, we’ll prompt you to reconnect or re-authenticate your account. Until the link is restored, we’ll continue to show the most recently received information.
