Why do I see a positive balance at the end of my chart when I am below my goal?

Path, our advice engine, does not assume you liquidate all your assets in retirement. Specifically, linked Real Estate, mortgage balances, 529 accounts, Coverdell ESAs and accounts with an unknown type are not included. Assets not included in your retirement plan will show up as positive values at the end of your chart.
